Paris Hilton, as the name suggests, is the first-born in the latest generation of the Hilton family. Her great-grandfather was the hotel chain founder himself. Although she likes to claim that she would like to be known as Paris, not "the one of the Hiltons", her name has undoubtly helped her a lot in her life. The 23-year-old Paris together with her younger sister Nicky (now aged 20) now sets the standards for wealthy young socialite of these days. She engrossed the attention of the media not just with her connections with movie stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio or Edward Furlong, but also with her often too self-centered (reportedly her favorite movie is Zoolander, in which she starred), not very polite and adequate behavior.

But it is necessary to say that Paris Hilton has taken some steps to get over the influence of her family's name. She is a part-time model, she tried some acting and also made some attempts in the fashion world. Along with her sister Nicky she has designed a high-end collection of purses for Tokyo label Samantha Thavasa. Who knows, maybe we will hear about her in this context in the future - she is still in her 20s. Another plus for this girl are the charity activities she participated in.

Recently a great affair turned up which made Paris' name rocket high up to the top of the search engine charts. She was 19 when she with her then-boyfriend Rick Solomon (the estranged husband of actress Shannen Doherty) did a homemade porno. That would be neither so exotic nor attention-attracting if it had been kept in privacy. Unfortunately for Paris, Rick has stolen the video tape a few years later and in February 2004 he started to offer a 38-minute cut on his website - asking for $50 per copy. Not even

the family wealth or name had helped Paris Hilton in her trial when she sued the internet company for $30 million, claiming it violated her privacy by distributing the video. In April 2004, Red Light District Video porn production company has bought the rights from Rick Solomon to distribute the full 45-minute video under the title One Night in Paris.

However, not only porn has made Paris Hilton famous as she starred (together with her best friend Nicole Richie, daughter of singer Lionel Richie) in a popular Fox reality show "The Simple Life". For a month they moved from their posh homes to a farm in Altus, Arkansas. Of course, they were totally inept in their life among the middle-class working on a diary farm or at a fast food joint but quite soon they were up to their well-known tricks, picking up guys along the way. The show was very successful and so a sequel is being prepared. During "The Simple Life 2", Paris and Nicole will be driving across America. The show is scheduled for broadcast in the US in the summer of 2004.
